Goodbye summer, Hello fall!

Autumn is here! Happy sweater weather everyone!

I suppose this is a good time to share a fun fall pumpkin craft I’ve made for you! I call it..

The Witch’s Magic Pumpkin!

So gather round my wicked witches (and magical wizards can do this one too!) There are magic pumpkins to be made!

Here’s the supply list!

(I found all my supplies at JoAnn’s and don’t forget your coupons, there are endless ways to save!)

  • A funkin pumpkin.. It will last + a craft you can keep!
  • Black paint
  • Paint brush
  • Glitter
  • Sequins
  • Black lace fabric
  • Sewing pins with black heads
  • Mod podge
  • Siccors
  • Green craft felt
  • Black pipe cleaner
  • Newspaper/plastic bag to keep your surface clean

I painted my funkin pumpkin with black paint. While I was waiting for the paint to dry I cut out some of the flower patterns from the lace.

Once I figured out where I wanted to put my lace cutouts I used mod podge to glue them in place.

After the mod podge dried I pinned the silver sequins in place using the pins with black heads.

What’s a craft without a little glitter right? That’s my theory anyways lol

I used a paint brush to apply the mod podge randomly around the rest of my magic pumpkin and sprinkled on some pixie dust… I mean glitter 🙂

Make sure you have some newspaper/plastic bag to do your craft on because this one can get a little messy. But then again that’s what crafting is all about, it is half the fun! 🙂

For the finishing touches I added some leaves I cut from craft felt and curled a pipe cleaner around my finger for a curly stem/vine.

Use whatever colors and materials you want really, this is a pretty simple and a fun craft and there are a lot of ways to decorate it differently. Have fun and enjoy my gouls and goblins!

In the blink of an eye

Summer came.. and will be leaving us in the blink of an eye. But, it’s not officially over until September 23rd, the first day of autumn. So enjoy it while it’s still here!

Summer goes almost as fast as it comes.  Summer days.. typically, hot and sweaty. The summer sun beaming it’s rays down so hard that you almost want to complain but… then remember those cold winter months?..itching for the spring air and that summer sun. The waves of heat bouncing off my skin and I wipe the sweat from my face, I’ve waited all year for this.

Although, I do look forward to the transition into fall especially, October.

For me that when’s the real celebration of all the blessings fall has to offer kicks in. Sunny days, cooler evenings but, not quite cold just yet and of course the change in foliage. Pumpkins, apples, delicious scents, food and cozy clothes. And of course my favorite Halloween 🙂

Pretty amazing the things Mother Nature is capable of doing. It’s so nice to sit back and take it all in.

Summer is seriously such a busy time of year for me! I did manage to sneak away to mass and have some family and beach time.

I went to the 4th annual Battle of the Burger hosted by the Boston Magazine / presented by Amstel Light! There were so many awesome sponsors to help make this possible!

I came to show my love and support to my cousin Nick of Lincoln Tavern! I had never been to a burger battle before, and the only thing I could think to compare it to is what a red carpet event might be like but, for burgers! There were well known chefs, boston athletes, restaurants, the people! It was a high energy and fun place to be! It was a great night, I got to see Nick in his element doing what what he is so naturally good at. We couldn’t be prouder of him!

Congrats to everyone’s hard work! It was a great event.

All in all it was a pretty magical week xx

A Vermont Winter Wonderland

The holiday season is always a very busy time of year! I can’t believe Christmas is practically here! Can you tell I’ve watched the Grinch?! One of my favorites! Can’t go wrong with a little Dr. Seuss 🙂

Before I jump into holiday stuff I need to explain how wild the weather has been in the good old state of Vermont! Indeed, we get snow and are use to it but last week was crazy! With all the snow we got we lost power for almost four days! I resorted to resourceful ways and buried my groceries in the snow! I guess this was the positive side with how cold it was and all the snow on the ground. Mother Nature saved my groceries! Lol

I’ve been busy in my shop! I’ve added a few items!

I also participated in a swap on Instagram called #swapsgiving around Thanksgiving time! We all swapped embroidered hoops with our partners! It was very fun and will deff do it again! I’m in another swap but haven’t started too much on it just yet. Once I get going on it I’ll share more but I’m waiting for Christmas to pass before I start working on it! 🙂

I can’t believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve and then Christmas! We certainly moved right through 2014! I was busy yesterday getting all the last Christmas finishing touches completed. I finished my homemade gifts and got all the Christmas cookies made! A lot of work goes into these holidays and I love doing all the holidays things like shopping, decorating and everything else that goes along with it but, I can’t wait to finally be able to enjoy it all and relax with my family. Another year is coming to an end and it still boggles my mind with how quickly it goes by.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone! I’ll see you in 2015!!

Magic Wand Anyone ???

If only we could pull white rabbits out of top hats and vanish before thin air… Now wouldn’t that be something! I could think of some things to put magic tricks to good use.

Image

For my first trick…. I will complete decorative bottles!

This is how the first set came out. I am still working on a few more sets…

Image

For my second trick I will make this farmers market tote bag disappear!

Well on second thought I had a wonderful customer assist me with that! My original design I made of a farmers market tote bag was purchased. I love this bag!

And for the grand finale! Well.. your just going to have to wait on that 🙂

Measure Twice Cut Once

I feel like this quote applies to more things in life than just sewing. Something I will think about..

Well I’ve worked on a couple of projects this past week. One was a cozy blanket cloak that was a custom order and I finished a little embroidery project I had been playing around  with.
Accomplishing projects is always a great feeling. Working on/designing orders and being an RN, it’s nice to finish a project for yourself since I am left with little to no time to do so.

I am often asked “how do you have time to do this?”… I often wonder that myself, really. It isn’t easy but, that is life. You make it happen. I am very dedicated and use my time as wisely as I can. I will say nursing has had some influence on shaping my time management skills. I’ve always been a creative person. It’s in my nature and really grew up with it. I think it’s really important to have something you enjoy doing that you can pick up and put down whenever you want to. Good way to have your own personal mini vacation I like to think of it 🙂

Also, another thing I’d like to mention is that my cozy blanket cloak was on Fresh Squeezed Fabrics blog which I thought was pretty cool! 🙂
#22
This cozy blanket cloak came in pretty handy because this past week we have had some very cold negative temperatures. (-20) Brrr!! I guess that’s the crazy New England weather for ya! Although, with the bit of rain we had it melted away some of the snow and for a moment there seeing all the grass again it gave me hopes for spring. But I’ll keep dreaming.. One of the lovely things about having my etsy shop is I can make a little spring cheer with my fabric.
Heart2HomeCreations is having it’s own bit of early spring cleaning currently. I am still taking custom orders via message but the shop needs a little renovating. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I need to get things prepared because something big for me is happening this spring. I will share more with you about once I get more information!
Tomorrow I am going to a “Food Fight” no not the kind where you throw food… That sounds fun too though lol but a cook off show down. My cousin Nick has a big part in this event he is a chef at Lincoln Tavern and Restraunt in Boston. Ticket proceeds are helping with the fight against childhood hunger! Lucky & I are really looking forward to this event. I will update later on how to goes! 🙂

Here you can catch up on what Lincoln is all about!

Custom Mr. + Mrs. Pillows

Part one of the bridal shower:

A very dear friend of mine just had her bridal shower! Congratulations Cassie! It was a wonderful shower. I love showers because you get to catch up with people you haven’t seen and celebrate!

For this bridal shower I wanted to make some type of personalized memento gift. Something for the bride and groom to remember their special day and something for the home. I decided to go with Mr. & Mrs. pillows.

For the Mr. pillow I used black and white polkadot ribbon as a border around the pillow with four black buttons one on each corner. I cut out letters from black fabric and embroidered each letter with black thread. For the finishing touch I gave the Mr. a bow-tie.

For the Mrs. pillow I knew I wanted lace, pearls and sparkly gems. I used the lace as a border around the pillow and stitched beads and pearls all throughout the border. This was the most time consuming part about the project but, totally worth it. It really added to the lace. Again I cut out letters from fabric and embroidered the letters with white thread and four white buttons on each corner. For the finishing touch on this pillow I gave the Mrs. a vail made from tule and more pearl beads.

I had a lot of fun making these pillows I loved getting the materials I wanted to work with. I also wanted to include materials the bride liked as well. Cassie likes lace so I knew I wanted to have this material on the pillow. My personalized Mr. & Mrs. pillows are great because I can customize the pillows almost any way.

Here is a picture of some of the materials.

Dandelion Day

A couple of weeks ago I was able to get the photographs taken of my apron, tea towel and a couple of scarves. It ended up being a pretty successful day! I’m still working on adding a few more listings to the Etsy shop but I’ll get there. For my apron I used three different floral prints. I really love mixing different designs of the same prints together. Kind of my thing at the moment. For me I find having some similarity in how the design of the print looks and going off of a color scheme worked best in creating this piece. My apron has the concept of mismatch but has some sense to it. If you going for complete mismatch toss my concept out the window!  Haha well that’s it for my little spiel 🙂  Here are some pictures from the day!

That’s A Wrap

This past Sunday I attended a baby shower of a very good friend of mine! She is having a girl 🙂 It was so good to catch up with friends and the baby shower was just beautiful.

Here’s some help with giving a great baby shower gift and some fun tips for wrapping your present!

Hmmm….. Not sure what to give?…..

– Its good to always check the baby registry! The mommy to be more than likely already knows what she has in mind.

Here’s where you can have some fun with your gifts, get something off the registry and a gift that you picked out yourself. This is a nice way to incorporate something mommy to be asked for and show you took time to pick something out for her and baby.

– If your still out of ideas ask those closest to her such as, family members and friends!

– Also if a baby shower is being held offer a helping hand! A wonderful baby shower is something a mommy to be will never forget!

My gift wrapping tips for a baby shower gift!

– If there are any crates, baskets or tote boxes for toys on the registry buy these first! You can put whatever else you buy in the crates!

– Get fun wrapping paper, tissue paper, ribbons and bows! I personally recommend checking out dollar stores. You can find the best gift supplies and its affordable!!!

– Clear gift wrap is a total must if you use any type of crate, basket or tote box. Clear gift wrap has two purposes. One protects the actual basket from scuffing up and getting dirty and two keeps all your gifts in one place! This is helpful so your not scrambling around because you didn’t know where you put something…..that is if your like me 😉

Here is what I did! Hope this is helpful! Leave me comments on what worked for you and share some ideas ❤

Come again!

Easter Craft Fun!

I really like this Easter egg tree. craft. Really quick, fun and not to mention easy on the wallet! You can find supplies any where. I found mine at Joann’s and Walmart. This craft works on any budget just depends how fancy you want to get with it. Here’s a picture of the supplies I’ve used. I originally purchased a white styrofoam cone but painted it green so none of the white showed through the grass. I also picked a cute poke-a-dot ribbon for a little extra touch. I currently keep my Easter egg tree on my kitchen counter. It is next to a vase of bright spring flowers and i’ve added my decorative flower inserts that are Easter eggs! Really cute way to let you know spring is in the air. Happy crafting! 🙂
